personal space evation

this was the frist project in 3rd year and all ready looking back im ahppy with how i approced it but i think i needed to conture shooting it was only a 2 week project so to get the idea and to reshoot after it was pretty hard i did plan on reshooting but then i got carryed away with the vermmer project i find it hard two work on two project at once so i seemed to just forget about this one even with the log book whare i did just forgot about it and just left some of it to now.

the compertition project evaltion

with this project to i dont think i got to the finshing point in the project i think i didnt shoot early enouth that was really cause i struggled to get my head around the project i did start of thinking that i would of done the fuji film project because i know the book silent spring and i was thinking about that project to much. but from what i have im happy with the images i would of like to shoot on medium format and with out such a wide angle lense i found out that some of the images got distorted and then it loses the dead pan effect also when things are out of place its really easy to spot them so i think i want to spend more time on looking at the seperate inages now i have a better idea for what im looking for

Vemmer Evaltion

from looking all the work i have produced i think these are my favort and the ones that i have taken the furthes i have really enjoyed having a long project to work on. i did find that i found my idea came quite quickly with out much reasurch really needed my last project last year was going this driction and its just been nice to expolre it more and take it further. i do also like it how iv steped quite far away from vemmers work. alot of peoples work seemed to be quite simular with the portraits and taking the image the girl with the peal earing and using that. but i liek the fact i have created somthing quite sirreal. i do think i could of gone further with the images i would of like to take the shoot out side i think but im still not to sure ware i could of gone with it. i think i would like to try it conture with it i think it seems that im not finshed with this project at this point and i still can do some more to the images and have them better thought out

compertiton images two

these shots were rushed just to try and get some better images before the hand on but i dont think any of them can really replase the images i used before hand because some of the images wer shot when it was a bit fogy and some of the qulty was lost in some of the fog. but with the reshoot i couldnt get the right camar and lense i do think tho the problem is tho that i cant get quite far enouth away from the shot with out using a wide angle lense wich then distorts the image to much i have came to relise that with this project i think i need to look at the deatles it is now tho to late to reshoot again. but now i do pefure the images from my frist serise of work from what i have so far and i think they are the ones im going to use for the compertion.
this i think is somthing i would like to conture and take further, i think i could look at the contrast places and towns.

i have found out somthing that is quite obvious really when you think about it that rich people genurly dont live on terraces. so im not sure i think it woulnd work as a compassiom pice so now i think the pice will just be looking at povty in the area and with this pice being in blackpool it seems also a lot easer to photograh the povty as i have came to relise that their is quite a lot of it around


i wanted to reshoot this image and have it closer in than the last as sarah thought it dosnt but im not to sure i think i perfure the image from further away ware it was busyer and then when you notest it, it seems out of place more so

Mill

these are a slection of the images i took from the shoot its not all of them as i shot about 70 images but i think its a range of them showing the problem i came up with from the lighting i wanted it to be showing more of the light at the time but thenyou would get to much of a glare from the light.i think the landscape images are the best and when the modle isnt toching the floor worksbest to. im amazied by the deatle from the nikon d3 i think if i used diglat i will only use that camar nowerdays. i quite like the shapes from the square on shoots the image is all filled with stronge lines











here is the final image and i think its a vast improvment from the the shot with reachel in the bed i just perfure it also i think it fits in with the serise much better with the tones and the harsh contrast with all the foure images their seems to be a simular feel to it also i think its better that the person is interacting with the light and intreaged by it. this happens in all the other shots. the only problem for me with this image is some of the dirt on the carpet and the mess on the left but im not sure if that really matter just for me its a bit distracting. i do think this is my favort image out of the serise now

AOP

As i dont have enouth money to enter the Aop awards this term i think i will just be getting it all ready for the hand in and then entering the compertion next term with my images i dont think i want to shot anything exspely for it as im really happy with the images i have been shooting. as its such an open compertion i do wonder what to entre ever my vemmer images or the one that i am entering for the d and ad comperition. i am leaning to some of my vemmer images i think i will be looking to entre a few as the images are a serise i think their stronger if i keep them as that so i think i will be useing my 4 vemmer images for it.


when i said this i hadnt look at any of the categories and now i have im not sure how they would fit in thinking about it the categories are

lifestyle and portraiture

fashion and beauty

landscape interiors and exteriors

and still life

and from what they have put in the discritions im not sure ware my vemmer images would fit so i was thinking i think i may uses some of the images wich im not using for the d and ad compertion. As i have two serises i think i will some of the images from the serise that im not using

serise 2.

i think this serise is more about the deailes with in the shot tonaly i think the last one is the most diffent but i still feel it fits in with it. all these shots are much closer in to the subjects than the other one. im not sure tho if it is quite as effective as the frist one i think i perfure them being that step back. Also i did find out that the image above is quite like another students here wich isnt too cool

serises 1

this frist serises of work is from further back with a section on the ground in each shot and its quite formal and again in blocs filled with strait lines. it dosnt show the wast but i think its more about the delapadation of the bulidings then the wast around. the last shot i think may need reshot





I have now decided to uses this serise i will be using for the hand in even tho i didnt manage to reshoot but i think the images just dont fit in as well that image secfully so i think i will just be using this for the hand in. and i will be printing the frist four images for the contact print

edtiting my final images

after speaking to sarah with the final images or what i thought wer my final images shes told me to look at the images again and print them out so i can see how their fit together as a pice of work. i think what i did with my last choice was to choice my favort images but i wasnt thinking how their would look together so now printed out all the images and i came up with two serises of work both answering the same question i think i just need to decide wich is my favort

images for Compertition

So above are the short list from the last blog and now i have these 7 images to choice 5 from so now i need to lose 2 all these images wer taken from the ally way behind Platine Rd i would quite like idea of contueing this pice of work and looking at other allyways and roads in diffent towns and arears to see the contrast between the streets.

My images

Here are all the images i have shot for my idea about the back street, now i just need to find my favort 5 images for the compertion. I did shoot on a D3 then converted the images to black and wight i think its important to have them as black and wight as then you can consertrait to the shapes alot more also the new topographic manly shoot in black and wight so it think its important to keep to this estatict. I dont think i will talk about all the images just my favort from the lot. then i will have another blog with my 5 final choices for the project

see i do like this image but i think the problem with it is that its nearly strait on but just not quite their and i think if you want to do it you have to be bang on as it becomes really ovouse if its just a tiny bit out and then you seem to become distracted with that
i like this image but it just dosnt fit in to what i want to show. dont think it really gets the idea acroos


this image is all right i think i like the fact that its not dead centre and that the door ways are off to one side, and their are only a few little points that give it a way from being from a poor area like the broken likght on the left.
I cut of a bit of the slate and that for me just spoils the image
its not strait on and i dont like the shadow

im not to sure about this one i think its problem is that its set back just to far and then wont fit in with the other images
again it wouldn fit in as the backround i think is ro far away i think in the serise it just wouldnt work
this is nice again with the blocs of coulor and its all very seconed off.
I really like this image bt i have a feeling that i have seen this location used in a simular way before with another students work if im mistaken then i think i may use it but other wise i wont
i think this is a good ilstration of what i was looking for when i frist went out to shoot but after shooting for a wile i think i have better images
i think again the same aplays to what i said about the images above
this image isnt just quite right its not quite level and he door isnt quite centre or level wich is hard to get right on a D3 i think in future it would be easer to use medium format to slow myself down abit and to make sure i get it right frist time
just not sure if it works the wall was at an odd angle and it just dosnt seem to work

i quite like this shot it seems to show what i wanted with the tree growing over the frence wich shows delaperdation and its very linner with strong shapes, but im just not sure i think it seems quite a flat image
i think i shot to wide wich seemed to be a problem with this work as i was in a back ally their wasnt to much space and i wanted to fit more in to the image it became a proble of what to take out of the shots but with some the image is distored. when i could i made sure i didnt

this shot and the one above are from the frist shoot i did ware pretty much all the images ended up out of focouse i just reshot the next day. when shooting with a wide angle i found that on the back and in the camar they seem infocouse but as soon as u zoom in you can tell
